Since early childhood I have been involved in sports. I have always loved the energy that sports give me and the level of mental and physical strength required. After graduating high school, I flew across the country to attend college at Utah State University. Knowing absolutely no one on campus, I soon threw myself into anything and everything social. I picked up 21 credits, joined the cross country team and barely slept or ate. Life was hectic and I soon found that the only thing that kept me sane was yoga. At first, though, I wasn’t really sure how to begin. I followed The Southern Yogi on Instagram and that’s where it all started. Her journey inspired me to take my personal practice more seriously. I did online classes, made up my own flows, and tried out new poses everyday.

One year later, I felt like there was an adventure for me beyond Utah State’s campus. At this same time, I flew out to New York City to model a toilet paper wedding dress my grandmother had made for a Charmin competition. After only four short days in the Big Apple, New York City had stolen my heart! Feeling inspired, I flew to South Dakota for the rest of the summer and worked at an animal sanctuary with lions, tigers and bears (oh my!). While there, I continued my practice and searched for employment in NYC so that I could return there to get my Yoga teacher certification. Less than a month later, I was in the city working as a full time nanny, taking college courses online and registering for my Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) at OM Factory.

When the YTT finally started, I was extremely anxious, especially because I had never taken an actual yoga class in a studio before and personal practice was all I knew. Nonetheless, I was excited. After 10 incredible weeks, I graduated with a full heart and an open mind to the endless possibilities that yoga opened up for me. My YTT taught me more about myself and the practice of yoga than I could have ever imagined, and brought me closer to achieving my goal of helping others through this practice!

My desire to share and spread this powerful practice grows more and more each day. The importance of body awareness, self care and the overall practice of yoga continues to change my life, and I know that this is a gift I can share with the world. My goal for every student, class and person I meet is to help them realize their full potential through body awareness, breath, alignment and mindfulness through the practice of yoga.
